Sunflower Processing Line

Sunflower Processing Line

Hebei Julite Sorting Technology Co., Ltd. introduces its Sunflower Processing Line, engineered to deliver clean, uniform seeds for snack, oil, and bird-feed markets. Designed with modular flexibility and robust hygiene features, this line supports capacities ranging from small pilot installations to high-throughput industrial plants.

End-to-End Process Workflow

  1. Raw Seed Intake and Pre-Cleaning
Incoming sunflower seeds are fed via a variable-speed conveyor into a vibrating pre-cleaner. Oversized debris—such as stalk fragments, stones, and leaves—is retained on a perforated screen, while an aspirator removes light impurities including dust and loose chaff. This primary stage safeguards downstream equipment and enhances overall line efficiency.

  2. Magnetic Separation and Destoning
A magnetic head extracts any ferrous contaminants introduced during harvest and transport. The material then proceeds to a destoner unit, which leverages differential airflow and vibration to separate stones and heavier mineral fragments from the lighter seeds.

  3. Hull-Kernel Separation (for Oilseed Applications)
For processors targeting oil production, an abrasive sheller gently cracks seed hulls without damaging the kernel. The cracked hulls are separated via an air classifier that directs lightweight fragments to waste while allowing intact kernels to continue downstream. An optional sifter may be installed to capture any residual hull pieces.

  4. Precision Optical Sorting
High-resolution cameras scan each seed on a narrow conveyor belt under controlled LED lighting. Advanced image-processing software identifies discolored, insect-damaged, or otherwise defective seeds. Precisely timed air jets eject these rejects, yielding a visually consistent product.

  5. Size Grading and Moisture Control
Multi-deck screening separates kernels into defined size fractions, ensuring even roasting or oil-extraction performance. Inline moisture analyzers measure residual moisture, and low-temperature dryers adjust levels to the target range of 10–12%, preventing rancidity and extending shelf life.

  6. Final Inspection and Packing
A last-stage metal detector provides additional safety assurance. Cleaned and sorted seeds are then conveyed to bulk-bag loaders or multi-head weighers with integrated bagging machines, producing retail or bulk-ready packages with precise weight control.

Key Features and Benefits

  • Modular Configuration: Modules for dehulling, optical sorting, and grading can be added or bypassed to match specific product goals.

  • Energy Efficiency: Variable-frequency drives regulate motor output to actual load; heat from pneumatic exhaust is reclaimed to preheat drying air.

  • Hygienic Design: All product-contact parts are made of food-grade stainless steel with rounded edges and sanitary welds, facilitating thorough cleaning.

  • Data Monitoring: A PLC/HMI interface displays throughput, reject rates, moisture levels, and machine health. Historical data logging supports traceability and continuous improvement.

  • Maintenance Access: Quick-release panels and centralized lubrication points reduce downtime for routine servicing.

Typical Applications

  • Snack Seeds: Uniform size and appearance enhance roasting consistency and consumer appeal.

  • Oil Extraction: Intact kernels with controlled moisture yield optimal oil quality and pressing efficiency.

  • Bird Seed Mixes: Clean, debris-free seeds satisfy strict purity requirements for pet and wild-bird feeds.

Hebei Julite Sorting Technology Co., Ltd. offers full project support—from site evaluation and foundation design to equipment installation, operator training, and long-term service agreements—ensuring that each Sunflower Processing Line meets performance targets and regulatory standards.
